Modern Vespa

So my 2016 GTS 300 Vespa has a coolant leak…

And when I took the cap off the coolant reservoir it leaked hard out of this little nub. What is this and how screwed am I?

I just got it serviced 3 weeks ago and it's empty of coolant now. I'm wondering if they knocked something off or what might have happened.

I'm reluctant to ride it anywhere.

that's the water pump weep hole. if coolant is coming out of there the seal is bad and you need a new water pump.

it's highly unlikely the repair shop did anything during the course of service to cause this and the event is purely coincidental.

I would not ride it until you have it repaired.

OK I just called my local Vespa service and they are quoting me $700 to fix it... sigh... the things we do for our beloved Vespas

they are not that expensive to fix, get on to Vespa motorsport or Ebay and order the part and fix it yourself.

Or maybe an Australian parts supplier since they're in Perth

Use of the term "mate" may narrow things down to Australia and UK, but who knows anymore....

It's turned out that it's not just the waterpump blown it's the headgasket too sadly, this is going to be very very expensive. Initially it's the thermostat that got jammed and as the 2016 doesn't have a temp guage on it, I was unaware

did you hear the fan go on a lot? would have expected that if the thermostat died

Yeah I did eventually, but I ride with earplugs in all the time, so I don't typically hear the fan. Yeah... it definitely alerted me when I finally took a short ride without them in. Most of my rides to work are a short 6km ride doing 80kmh with no stopping other than one light, so it didn't come on much because of that too (I think).
