I recently bought a 2nd hand scooter with 27,902kms on it, it has now done 28,000.
Taking into account that the manual recommends a regular oil change @ 6,200 miles (9,600kms) and its first service was done @ 1000kms then it should be due for its next service @ 30,000 just to be on the safe side, yes?
It is also recommends to change the drivebelt & rollers @ 8,000 miles (12,000kms) and I've just bought these and a new windscreen for it online for about 250 NZD, which is quite a few hundreds less than if I had to buy them here, from a New Zealander.
I doubt that the drivebelt was changed before I bought it and after reading what other members had to say regarding how long it will be good for, I am inclined to leave it until it starts losing acceleration, or I hear strange noises coming from the motor.
Fact is that being only on Restricted License, I won't be going any faster than 70kmph tops and it could easily outlive me.
I've owned quite a few scooters over the years my first a Honda Spacey 200, 2x PX200ie's, (one that I did 72,000 kms on before having to get it rebored) 2x 2008 GTS250ie's 1x that got written off, the other that had the back wheel come off when I was way out in the sticks somewhere out the back of Rotorua. I wound up leaving it abandoned at the side of the road, which I figure was the cheapest option.
I've also had a Sym GTS 250, a Honda Silver Wing FJS600 (that I sold last week) and am now riding my 3rd Modern Vespa.
Although I've only had it for a couple of weeks, I really like how well balanced it is even without a windscreen and I have to be careful not to twist the throttle too hard at the lights because its real impatient to get going. I was going to write she but a man has to be careful to not sound sexist these days,
especially if there's any women around within earshot. Funny that because women riders call their scoot a him, without worrying about comeback because a man heard them say it.
It's a weird world we're living in nowadays. huh!

Sounds like you have no information on previous servicing. Yes, a full service is due at 30,000 km, and one was due 20,000 km. And time has passed for a couple of belt and roller changes as well. If you really have reason to believe that none of that was done, running a belt to 30,000 km is way overdue and risks a messy belt failure while riding. (is there no way you can confirm previous servicing?)

My '20 GTS300 HPE has a shorter belt replacement interval than the earlier 250/300 models (6000 miles versus 9000?), but when it suddenly turned itself into a wad of rubber chunks and strings, it gave no perceptible warning beforehand in the form if unusual sounds or loss of power. I was moving at around fifty-five mph and it was as if it had suddenly, quietly, and smoothly, slipped into 'neutral', and that was it.

I'd be curious to know if others here who've experienced a drive belt failure sensed any 'warning' before it actually failed?

RTMRT, I will be interested to see how you fare. I have the same scooter, recently purchased under the same conditions. Mine is in super good condition, but I don't know the history. I have opted to ride until February, when I normally do maintenance on my bikes. I have really enjoyed this bike so far. Good luck
