So once I figured out all the wires after opening the flywheel . I cleaned up the points, reset the gap (.35) and put in back together. Whether coincidence or not the spark became intermittent and then died
However, I get a juicy spark off the red kill wire , which I think means the primary and the points are working
The secondary reads about 6k
I rigged up a tests bench with 4x AAA batts and tested it with an external coil. I did this by applying rapid on/off to the primary and watching a tiny spark on the secondary with an aligator clip
However, when I test with the internal coil, i get a weak spark ont he primary ( about half of the external) and nothing at all on the secondary ( from spark plug lead)
While I'm not an electrician, I believe the primary coil is AC off the flywheel magnets, but the test shd still work
Just before I rush out and buy a new internal coil ( which I'm reluctnant to do since I dont have the large soldering iron to solder the HT lead, is there anything I missed?
Maybe I shd try 4xAAs to beef up the primary current?

Correction, theyare already new AAs and my 'prmary test' is putting an aligator clip on the red stop wire in the junction box and grounding it

k. more science experiments. i connected a lantern battery, disconnected the condensor from the points and i got a tiny 0.1 blue spark not much different than the external coil
tested the condenser and its not shorting.
so i might disconnect the condenser from the circuit and give the flywheel a spin

k, so bought a new coil, installed - and no difference
then i spun the flywheel and here is the weird thing
i get a spark ONLY when the flywheel is loosened and the it becomes a bit rattly.
so approx 1mm from its fully tightened position
i checked the points and they're opening ok in both position
i noticed that the condenser wires are pretty close to the inside of the flywheel but dont seem to touch and there are no abrasion marks anywhere

surely, this can't be real..

this is talking about adjusting the coils

does this apply to any stator? i cant find that tool number anywhere on the net
