Hi. I've just ordered a carbon effect mudguard extender from Ron Daley & the pics don't show any screws etc.. just the sticky bit! Do these things actually stay on without screws/bolts? I'm hoping they do as I don't really want to start drilling holes into my front mudguard.

I have the one from SLUK , it has both double sided tape to locate it and three bolts to secure it. I for one would not just rely on tape to secure a mudguard extension. Since if you roll off a kerb the extender may ground resulting in, losing it/ jam it under the mudguard or lastly damage your existing mudguard.

Just my opinion

Mine stayed on my Burgman just fine using 3M Red automotive accessory 2-sided tape.
I did not want to make holes in my new Burgman.
Clean both surfaces thoroughly with alcohol.

Thanks both for your replies. I'll see how it feels once it's on there!

I bought this one from Scooter West last winter, but haven't installed it yet (obviously).

Besides the tape, It uses four small plastic push-in fasteners that require holes being drilled through the fender.

I need to get this thing off the shelf and put on the bike.

I have the SLUK extender on mine and used both the tape and the screws. It's been very secure.

Put some blue painters tape on the outside of the painted fender to help when marking your hole locations and prevent extra paint damage on the fender.

I finally installed the front fender extension onto my GTS300 yesterday.

I decided to not make any holes in the fender for the plastic push-thingies that came with the kit, and just used the included adhesive strip, supplemented with as much double-sided 'Gorilla' Tape' as I could fit onto it. I can always go back and put several supporting fasteners on it if I feel it becomes necessary later on.

It fit ok, and looks ok, and it will certainly keep a lot of gunk, stones, and water off of the chin area of the scooter.

Thanks so much everyone for the replies! I stuck it on without any screws & it did look good, however, I went out to the garage the next morning & it was lying on the floor! It's £40 down the toilet, but I think I'll just leave it off. Maybe if [in future] I see marks on the underside of the scooter, I'll fix it on properly!

Do you ride many unsealed roads ie gravel? If not then chill. I do ride a lot of gravel and have a lot of gravel rash under the front.

I used the supplied double sided tape along with some super glue and it's stayed on for about a year now.

I didn't fancy using the screws either.

Here's the longer version one from SLUK that I bought. Not my bike, but I attached using the screws AND the 3M double sided tape. SLUK provided both for a reason. It's pretty sturdy.

Also - I think I like the one from Scooterwest a little better. The matte black will likely look better longer term and the extension seems to be a bit lower.

The intent with these is to protect the underside near the seam on the frame.

Nah, I'm only ever on normal Tarmac roads in good weather. The GTS Super is now eight months old & has completed around 60 miles! Being just outside Edinburgh means the weather is generally shit all the time here, so getting the thing out is very, very few & far between!
