Modern Vespa

I came across a Kickstarter campaign for Secubix. For Vespas. Have a look:

Looks interesting - if I was a commuter and had to park in amongst cars I'd get one of those! It might even bring insurance premiums down quite a bit.

I don't think the thing is very helpful for parking bumps in "normal" parking lots, but only if you park in a row at the side of the road. If somebody or a car approaches the Vespa from the front or rear, the cameras don't seem to help.

Better solution: move to Melbourne where we are allow to park on the foot path

The 90s called. They want their 480p camera back.
Also this renders the helmet lock unusable, assuming you can predict what side the car will hit you from.

The optimistic view is that if they get close enough to knock you over then 480p will work ... unless the height (think SUV) or horizontal alignment of the camera vs plate is wrong, or that they don't just bump with a corner of the car while manoeuvring in and then left without fully bringing the plate fully in to view ... umm ... let's just forget it.

Oh wait, it could use AI to swivel to the perfect angle because AI solves everything (assuming the AI doesn't helpfully automagically transform the pic into a cat)

In Germany, fully comprehensive insurance for a Vespa GTS costs around €40 more per year than partially comprehensive insurance.

Correct. It is sufficient if the other party involved in the accident comes from a state in which no license plate is required on the side of the collision.

This is less of a problem in Europe, where all vehicles (with the exception of motorcycles) must have a license plate at the front and rear.
