Does anyone now anything about the OBDSTAR iScan Vespa diagnostic tool?

I assume functionality depends on (and varies with) Vespa model and model year but, while they suggest 'checking the supported list before buying', they do not appear to provide such a list.

I have reached out to them via email and will update this post if/when I receive an answer.

I have one, the Piaggio group version (Vespa, Piaggio, aprillia, etc) and can say that works very good.

Inclusive yesterday I have the opportunity to compare with the Texa (Texa cost 3 times more) and have more functionality. In example the Texa can't calibrate the reverse solenoid for the >2019 MP3 500 but the IScan can

Thanks. Appreciate the feedback.

Not familiar with MP3s. Is this a scooter with ODB or pre-OBD? Asking because I am considering it for a 2017 Vespa GTV300 (which is pre-OBD).

Will it work on a '24 Elettrica I ask?

PeoriaLX if they respond to you, can you tell me which way you communicated with them so I can ask this follow-up question.

dariusz did your (happenstance?) testing only happen on ICE variants?

Mine MP3 is Aprilia type connector, OBD, not OBD2 (this is what I think you ask saying pre-OBD or OBD). But the iScan comes with both connectors if you need them

I open the diagnostic software and I can't find the Vespa Elettrica in the possible options, not sure if I can't find or don't exist. Maybe for Elettrica is needed a special diagnostic tool from Piaggio only Facepalm emoticon and yes, I only use it in normal IC engines

Is not bad idea ask directly to OBDSTAR?

Thank you.

Not sure yet what protocol my 2017 GTV uses. So far I just know it has the flat 3 pin diagnostic connector shown in the pic. Is this the same as on your MP3?

Thanks for the clarification. Yes, I should have said OBD vs OBD2 instead of OBD vs pre-OBD.

I have not heard back from OBDSTAR yet.

try a generic OBD2 reader. For understanding Elettrica engine codes see pages 191-194 in https://manuals.wotmeworry.org.uk/Vespa/Elettrica/Vespa%20Elettrica%20EU-USA%20%282018-%29.pdf

Is exactly the same connector and the protocol is standard

Thanks, I will try.

My 'ol trusty generic OBD2 reader is at my child's house so will be a little while and I will need to purchase an OBD2 to Vespa 6-pin adapter cable (from aliexpress).

I have the 2024- Elettrica service manual and it is more extensive than the 2018 manual, but notably does not list any trouble codes, instead requiring the $1K+ diagnostic tool and companion licensed Windoze software from Piaggio to interpret the codes. Right to repair is kinda borken at this point with Piaggio.

I received a response from OBDSTAR today. It is brief but includes an attached Excel file with models and years. I there a way I can upload this file here somehow?

It is 378MB, well beyond the upload quota of 40MB, so not via this venue. Sharing with Google Drive ATM, on a one-by-one basis, I expect one to provide a verified account on modernvespa as key in the share-request email that is generated when you click on the following link to access the document or I will move it to my spam folder. I will probably turn around the share request within 24 hours. There are precious few that own a Elettrica here, so I do not expect a flood ...

And no, I do not know how to upload to the modernvespa platform in any case ...
