Is this brown crap that's all over this carburetor solidified gas, or is it some kind of sealer? I'm cleaning all of it off regardless but I'm curious

Looks like typical old fuel and oil that's leaked out over the years.

Remove all of the rubber and plastic bits, soak it in acetone overnight, scrub with a tooth brush, then soap and water in an ultrasonic cleaner then blow out all of the passages with compressed air. Good as new.

Success here and we'll talk about promoting you to Captain Chaos.

I thought a commander was over a captain.

I have it soaking in carburetor dip right now. I'll do the ultra sonic cleaner tomorrow when I dump the vinegar out of the gas tank.

Guess I should have gone for Major Chaos. Unfortunately I have the whole "not caring" thing working against me.

Clean as a whistle. Best of all, it's now pine scented.

I use Hoppes 9 on the brass jets. They look new after a little soak. It's not harsh like the older formula so doesn't harm them. Also use it for fuel injectors at my work.

I just shot brake cleaner through them followed with compressed air.

I'm super annoyed that the carb and oil pump base gaskets didn't come with the rebuild kit.
