The late model Elettrica comes with a tool roll that only has the rear shock adjuster wrench and a fuse puller Facepalm emoticon . This attests to the minimal servicing required for this model. Special, as one does not need to rebuild the engine, brakes or clutch, or clean spark plugs at the side of the road anymore

Can anyone enumerate the absolute minimal set of this bike's specific additional tools one should have in the belly of the underseat storage of an Elettrica?

I am thinking of a smallish adjustable wrench (large enough to tighten mirrors), phillips/flat/torx combo screwdriver. Torx bits limited for battery and other access panels, and mounted vespa accessories only, no need to have 'em all. Must also, a small rechargeable battery operated air pump with built-in pressure cutoff and a tire repair rope kit. Minor first aid kit, like band aids and neosporin.

Which torx bits do you think I need?

Phone looks after the rest, 911/fwiends/luverz/family, the flashlight, capture shots where one just does not want to bend or kneel to see, level app, camera viewer as magnifying glass, and complete user and service manual downloaded and ready to be perused.

I should probably change out the remaining incandescent bulbs (brakes, directionals) with LED so that I need not carry replacements.

Am I missing anything? Or should I be thinking less?

First of all: No Vespa currently has more than the special wrench for adjusting the rear shock pre-tension and the puller for the fuses. The little bit that used to be included was rationalized away many years ago. The lapidary comment from Pontedera was: Vespas don't break.

However, as long as you are close to civilization, you don't need any tools. Why lug around a 25 mm Torx, a 20 mm Torx and a Phillips screwdriver to get to the battery? Once you have it out, what comes next? (Did you know that on the Elettrica you can charge the starter battery with the emergency function from the drive battery?)

Smartphone, AAA membership (or similar), credit card and that's it.

I think the idea of a first aid kit makes sense. Maybe also pack a reflective vest.

I'd still add a puncture repair kit and miniature compressor.

I have to add then, that it's now been four times I've used my puncture repair kit out on the road - once was on a Greek island with no hope of finding a tow or a mechanic.

I won't travel without one handy - they work for cars as well!

I've had multiple flats and I'm often out of cell service.

Or do you feel that the limited range of Elettrica means you could walk home?

The 2024 Liberty tool kit has a few other pieces in there include a screwdriver and a spark plug removal tool.

Small bottle of scotch in the glove box next to the first aid kit. Maybe part of.

Bigger one under the seat.

The torx thing is a pita. I have(well, had, maybe still have) a bike multitool under the seat with the appropriate torx. Also a small towel and latex gloves. For touring in the wops I'll take a can of tyre sealant and an adjustable spanner.

The Elettrica 45 had a button under the seat to use the traction battery to "jump start" the auxiliary battery - so having Torx to access the battery under the floor wasn't really necessary on the road.

They removed this on the 70 version, but I think the traction battery might do this automatically now - so again, no Torx required.

Lights are LED, so no "on the road" servicing required for those.

I used to carry an adjustable wrench to adjust the rear brake, but that was mostly when I was trying to set the bite point exactly where I wanted it, and not something I needed every day.

I really don't think any other tools are necessary.

The thing I did always carry though was a cable that let me plug into electric vehicle charging points. Someone made me a type 2 socket with a regular household plug on the end - so it meant I could go on longer trips knowing I had more charging stations available.

As for "servicing", the elettrica has a lot of computers inside which go through regular updates. This keeps you tied to a dealer as you can't run these updates yourself.

Mine hadn't been to a dealer in a year or so and I was given pages and pages printed out of all the updates when I did take to be "serviced".

18 months into owning my Elettrica. Never ridden a bike prior to this, so I still very much class myself as a newbie. With that in mind:

Firstly - tyre repair - where do you start?! I get the concept of the string kits in theory, but would hate to have to work it out for the first time stuck by the side of the road. I got my first puncture the other week and was thankfully able to limp home at about 10mph. Couldn't see any sign of the actual puncture. I have a tyreweld puncture repair kit, which I understand tyre repair places hate if they have to deal with the aftermath. Not sure what the right answer is...

Secondly - "small rechargeable battery operated air pump with built-in pressure cutoff" - I would definitely appreciate any recommendations for one of these...

I keep a Y-Shape skateboard spanner under the seat for tightening the mirrors on my MP3 (the nut underneath the headset) as they often work loose (and I have no other use for a skateboard spanner nowadays)

I reciently purchased a mini compressor ( Cycplus) that also has a USB port to charge up your cell phone if needed. A tire plug kit-same as for auto (type). I use to carry a small trick / light weight tire plug kit that the plug/cords/would leak after install ( too small I guess), I carry a small pair of vice grips to pull out the nail or screw from the tire. A few tools like metric Allen wrenches, and a couple of wrenches, some spare fuses. Everything-Wrapped in a red rag and tucked into a small zippered pouch. Also small pump bottle of glass cleaner. I have a new BV 400. Nail in rear tire in less than 600 miles/new. I don't anticipate any mechanic issues but you never know when a lurking nail or screw is out there. Tubeless tires hold air even w/object stuck in tire-for quite awhile. I need this stuff when I'm out touring or a ways from home.
