Hi!
I've just replaced my LX125 speedo cable and outer, as the outer had worn through and rusted the inner cable, which led it to snap. I had replaced this once before maybe 5 years ago.
After about 100 miles if that, the new cable has snapped, approximately in the same location as the old one, but without rust.
Im guessing that this is where the cable doglegs through at the top of the suspension strut with the brake line to get out of the wheel arch/steerer and into the body of the vespa.
Im wondering if somehow I've got an unusually tight bend in the cable by the way it's routed or if it's just bad luck.
I remember getting everything back together when I replaced the front shock being a bit of a nightmare, and same again when replacing the speedo outer, trying to get the outer (and inner!) to route up with the brake line and then attach to the clip at the top of the wheel arch which secures it out of the way of the wheel/suspension.
I'm wondering if I've got this ruoting wrong. Is there a way it's meant to go or is it just a case of force it through and crank up the bolts which attach the retaining brackets around the cable/brake line?
Any other reasons it might have broken approx 20cm in from the wheel end?
Thanks!
