Slamming is when a customer asks a new ISP (Internet Service Provider - and there are MANY available in the UK unlike the USA's limited choice) to provide their internet connection. The new ISP just snatches the connection away from the old ISP who now might have no warning - and this can be done maliciously to other people causing all sorts of trouble. Up until now it's been possible to stop this - next month that security disappears. Usual quango cock-up.
