Good evening puzzling one this. I bought a 2010 300ie with a faulty tilt lock. This is what happens, key in and turn ignition, constant beep and both red and amber tilt lights lit. Tilt lock button does nothing, not even two quick flicks, switch checked and working, new battery also on the bike. The motor ticks over but that is it, twist the throttle and nothing, just continues to tick over, no spluttering just tick over, the cable is operating on the throttle body. Connected 12v to the tilt lock motor and turns both ways, really stuck with this. Help please.

Maybe check fuses, and the hidden one also see below.

I have removed both wheel sensors, both were very dirty and full of metal filings, is there any way to check these at all? If I check the wiring to these what readings should I get if any or should it be an open circuit? I have tried placing various resistor into the seat socket but should the resistor be soldered to the wiring ideally? Loads of questions sorry, one other thing when I unplug the potentiometer I get a long fault sound and then it stops and comes on again, really scratching my head with this.

A 3kΩ resistor just wedged into the seat sensor socket should be fine.
This is from the 250 workshop manual: |

Thanks for this, that socket doesn't look like the one on mine, but I've made some progress, with the 3k resistor installed on the seat sensor, both wheel sensors and the potentiometer unplugged I can get the yellow light to go out and the bike now revs freely. Is the system unlocked with the arm to the left fully or to the right? I've had the potentiometer off the rollock mechanism and just put back so it's probably not set up correctly but some progress.

Er- what plug? That photo is of a diagnostic tool, not part of the bike. Check the resistances of the sensors, they should be as above.

Sorry, I did wonder, I've ordered a couple of speed sensors, same part number as a vauxhall crank sensor, I think I've messed up the potentiometer though by taking it off, whoops
