Morning,
I know there are lots of threads on how bad a design they really are, i thought i would change front pads this weekend.
As you have to remove the caliper to see the pins there is nothing to allow you to hold them. Although i did notice if you remove one and look through the wheel you can see the other side.
Couple of mins with a blow torch and then a couple of whacks with the impact driver and i got two out undamaged.
The other side i was not so lucky, i got one out but the other just rounded out.
More heat and hammering a torx bit in did nothing so i drill it out with a 7mm drill, i managed to tap an 8mm thread into i and then took an M8 bolt and ground down most of the shaft so it ended up a similar diameter to the original pin.
It seemed to work, the pads slide nicely over it.
Both of the rears have already been rounded out so i am going to ignore that and hope it fixes itself.....
On the front the left hand side the pads were worn but the right didnt look used at all. I managed to get the pistons to move until one fell out !!
A quick scan of the internet suggested that the left hand brake lever did the right front and rear via a proportioning valve.
Both sides are now bled and the levers are firm but is there anything other than stuck pistons would have resulted in no wear on the right font pads ?
Thanks
