I see that Malossi makes a seal set with a an FKM seal for the kickstart shaft for the newer engines. By any chance does this also fit the VBC engines?

SIP sells a nice seal kit, but the kickstart seal appears to be rubber.

I am specifically looking for extended shelf life, as I will be "archiving" one of my bikes as a "lego kit" for my youngest. Ideally I would like to keep the new bits in original packaging, and not have to worry about it in 5-10 years when things are dusted off.

A link of the Malossi seals?? Haven't seen anything for the Vespa engines, even the Malossi cases still use the typical o-ring…

I just went to grab the link from SIP)..and that kit does not, in fact, have the kickstart seal....duh. I was going by pictures in a rush...

Well, that makes it easy...ish, since there is no choice.

Other than cool, and dark, and sealed packaging...is there any "preservation" secret that someone uses? I have seen folks store in silicone oil, and also store after a coat of 408C....but this is typically for seals which will be unobtainium. In my case, this is more of a convenience thing to have everything in place...

If I am stuck with the cool/dark storage, is 8-10 years a reasonable expectation? Or is this a fools errand?

Thanks.

I very much appreciate the useful feedback I am getting. This sure seems easier than the jar-o-silicone!
