I just put a Scorpion red power exhaust on my 2020 GTS 300. will this make the Vespa run too lean and heat up the engine too much? I have ridden with people that have had them but did not ask. I have used Akrapovic and Leo Vince on my Vespa but they only lasted 3 to 5 months before the packing started to go bad. I ride on the freeways all over at 70 to 80 miles an hour for 30 to 70 miles one way and ride a lot. I ask because I tried one from the Filipins and after a month was starting to leak coolant into the cylinder area and had to replace the gasket and cylinder. Does the ECU need to be reprogramed or will it adjust a bit? if needs to be reprogram how can I do this myself?
All I was told to put a Malossi O2 controller. I will post what the before and after. I'm getting some backfire when stopping and will see if this goes away.
Im no expert on this , but my experience from the KTM 390 forum ( 390 cc 44 bhp water cooled) was " one modification was within the range of control of the onboard ecu. Eg a free flow exhaust OR a free flow filter. If you install two mods eg both above then a ecu piggyback was needed to redress the air fuel ratio.
Having said the above, looking at your riding you are wide open throttle for a large part of your journey, this could lead to a lean condition. Im sure someone more experienced than me will be along shortly to shine a light on this issue.
