Does anyone know if it is possible to install a saddle from a newer model year on an older model year?
I would like to install the new GTV saddle with the plastic cover on my 2010 GTS.

There was a change to the helmet compartment in 2014 (it became wider), so there are also two different seat bases.

Seat benches prior to 2014 also fit later models (up to and including 2024) with slight modifications (relocating rubber bumpers).

The other way around is much more complicated, a seat bench from 2014 onwards only fits on earlier models with considerable modifications.

Do you know if this has been done before and what those modifications are?
Is it only the width of the chassis that's changed or also the curve?
Is the locking mechanism in the same position?

See https://vespaforum.de/viewtopic.php?t=62250 (use translator if needed)

The oval plastic rim must then be removed, otherwise it will rest on the helmet compartment.

Do you think it should be possible to avoid the modification by raising the hinge using spacers?

I haven't tried this myself, but from my understanding, the only way is to remove the plastic edge on the underside of the seat is with a Dremel. I would forget this method and either buy a pre-2014 seat or, even better, a new Vespa… 😎

What about the possibility of swapping the seat base from the early seat, anyone tried this?
