My buddy put a 30-1 mix in his 74 bajaj 150 (vbb) instead of the 50-1. I think he's used to chainsaws. Anyway it ran ok for a day and then no starting as expected. I drained the tank and am going to clean the carb. Is there anything else I should do before I fill her back up and try to start it? I sprayed a bunch of carb cleaner down the spark plug hole thinking its covered in oil

That mix should not make a non running engine. It's a tad much but not too bad. If the plug is gooped up, throw in a new one while you are at it.

Agree with FINYoshi. The difference between 2% and 3% might foul your plug but it won't hurt your fuel system. Pop in a new plug and ride on.

Vintage two strokes ran at 25:1. Its the advent of synthetic and semi synthetic oils that have allowed mixes to go upto 50:1. As others have said clean the plug, the bike may have a smoky exhaust for a while, a good run will soon sort that out.
