Went out with the 62 Allstate today and about 2 miles in it decided it didn't want any gears. Well first it was no third gear. I stopped to check the bat wing and it move through all gears which it did fine. Started the bike again and headed home one block later and I had no gears at all. Shifter moves through the gears fine, bat wing too. But it's no longer engaging the gears.

What am I looking at here? Clutch pulls fine too. Everything was great until it wasn't.

It was a LOOOOOOONG 2 mile walk home mostly up hill. I'm cooked.

Hmmmm

maybe the shifting cross has come loose? I'd be inclined to pull off the selector box and see if you can shift through the gears by pulling the rod.

Hmmmmm

That taper pin holds the shift arm to the rotating 'batwing' gear selector. No wonder it wont shift!. Not common but it does happen, obviously. Gotta hammer that thing back in, maybe with a bit of loctite. It's possible the holes on arm and/or batwing are wallowed out; so I'd give it a close inspection.

Will do. I got a spare so I'll throw that one on while I fiddle with this one. Glad it's not something more serious. The walk back home sure did suck but I'm glad it wasn't something I screwed up that went wrong!
