Hi all, first time poster.

I'm sadly selling my 2013 946 (in Calgary, Canada) and I can't seem to find anything like it online to use as a fair market value for it. I don't want to undervalue it, or overprice so it doesn't sell and I look like a jerk haha. It's in mint condition, 2000kms, matching red leather helmet bag and matching helmet. If anyone can help me out, it would be so appreciated (I've never sold a vehicle before). Thanks so much in advance! (I hope this is ok to post)

a scoot with 51 miles on it and in Socal is going to get a much higher price than a scoot in Canada.

first off the scoot is over 10 years old so you have that.
is there excellent maintenance records?
what age are the tires and other service items?

Did you look on nada or similar for valuations?

Seeing as how there's nowhere you can actually buy a 2013 946 for $2500, whatever numbers someone found on the internet are irrelevant in determining what your bike would actually sell for.
A dealer will get more that a private party, but this is a very hard to find scooter, in a very popular color, and they always go for more than the KBB, NADA or Black Book guides list as a value. Also, there aren't going to be any more coming down the assembly line. So if someone wants one, in red, yours might be the only one they find at the time.

Depending on how quickly you want to sell it, $6000 Canadian seems like a good place to start. If you don't get any interest, lower it. If you can get a Vespa dealer, or any powersports dealer with good floor traffic, to take it on consignment, that might be a good way to get top dollar. Unlike you, a dealer can set up financing, and get more for the bike than a private seller.

Do not let anyone, under any circumstances, test ride the scooter, no matter the song and dance they give you about how long they've been riding, they won't buy it if they can't ride it, etc. If they drop it, you still own it, and it's worth quite a bit less.

reminder that the 946 is sorta rare / uncommon, even the standard model.

Meh. its just a fricken machine IMO and only a daily rider. anything else if someone thinks they have something SPECIAL should be on a pedestal on display somewhere.

I bet if you put it on Ebay at a starting price of 8000 usd and get it posted around the social media, as last of the Mohicans, the hipsters and fashion victims will go in a frenzy, just look at all the old Honda scoots etc being snapped up for big bucks by the Hollywood crews

It is you understand completely non-sequitur.

It has nothing to do with the value of a 946 Vespa. Kinda like how different countries in "American dollars" has nothing to do with the value either, unless you were going to do a calculation for us?

For example a Brazilian reais has a value of 5.6 BRL to one US dollar so the offering of $3,500 BRL which is an "american dollar" would have a cash value of about $630 US dollars...etc etc for the rest of the american countries dollar value...

but you weren't commenting about what would be a value for a Vespa scooter you were calling out a post for not using specific enough information that you might be confused as to what they were actually offering...kind of non-sequitur to the original post...if you actually know some of the exchange rates kind of obvious what poster was offering which I still think way low in US dollars?

and so I followed up with something else completely non-sequitur, a famous person saying something most would easily recognize...how should we say it???

Bullshit?

I was just trying to be funny, entertaining with a quick wit. I explained the thinking behind it. No offense intended just poking fun.

A U.S. dollar is worth 948 Argentinian peso, which is their currency they don't have dollars I guess so 3,500 Argentinian would be about 4 US dollars. Keep the change.

I can't think of anything other than Canada that is even close, and even that is only worth 3/4 of a US dollar.

Is it not ok to just say "American dollar"?

Isn't that a "correct term" commonly known to mean US dollars? Am I being insensitive somehow?

I think it has to be worth at least $5,000 American dollars if it is worth a penny.

I am not offering that amount however, merely conjecturing at what it's low value sell as soon as you list it price.

I would think it might fetch much closer to 10 large.

There is one listed on the Cycle trader in San Jose near me for 12. That is the only one I see for sale locally.

I'd pay maybe 70% of the price of a new 150 for a Bellissima.

I think Christopher Walken should have kept the cash too.

The currencies of Panama and Ecuador come to mind. And then there's French Guiana where they use the Euro, which is worth more than a dollar these days.
