Hey guys while changing the drive belt I cracked the cvt case. I glued it back together but is that safe? Do I need a new case because if I do the bike is honestly totaled
Not too far back, it ends where the rubber for the oil lines end. I was using the tool that locks the variator in place to get the bolt out to get the belt. But who ever put that nut in torqued it way too much, I had to use my entire 235 pound body on the wrench to get it to break loose. I guess it broke at the same time the nut broke loose
It's been a while since I've seen an ET2 at close range, but if the crack isn't going to travel to the crank housing, you should be fine. If it were to travel to the crank housing, you would have an air leak, and that would cause issues.
Best bet would be to take it to an automotive machine shop and ask them about options.
Yeah no its not that far back here's a better pic. I have some aviation grade glue holding it together right now so it'll have to do. That piece of metals only job is to keep the screw that holds the case on screwed in so hopefully it's fine
gotta ask
what is this aviation grade glue?
pics?
properties?
what's it used on in aviation?
there are some very good 2 part metal epoxies as well.
Attached a photo of what I used. My grandpa uses it on his Cessna 206. Not quite sure on what, but if he can fly with it than I can certainly go a whopping 35 mph with it
