Got an Motovespa 200 9DS engine from Spain which was missing the ignition parts but otherwise complete. Based on the mounting points of stator plate it has been equipped with Femsatronic ignition which will not be an option to source. I just want the reliable and easily available Ducati sparks.
For comparison a Ducati equipped block looks like this
You almost could drill and tap some holes and just throw in a Ducati stator plate on the lower step of the machined surface. Difference in height was 0,2mm which is not a problem. Main enemy here is that the diameter of the machining is around 4mm larger than the Ducati stator plate. I don't want to make a ring to center it so I will weld on some more material and have it machined to take in the Ducati plate.
The crankshaft is also specific to Femsatronic with it's super stubby cone so the whole engine has to be disassembled to swap that out. While the engine is in parts, it can be cleaned and prepped for the welding at the same time.
Engine has never been splitted before but man has this thing been eating oil
Things are just tad worn as expected but nothing is really broken
