Modern Vespa

Greetings.

I just moved to a suburb near Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and obviosly took my Vespa with me. It was a dream of mine to ride it here.

To get to Rio, I need to cross a 10 mile bridge across Guanabara bay (called the Rio-Niterói Bridge), that goes up to 236 ft high. So the first leg of the journey I was a little afraid to die. But after that first thrill, everything went fine.

And what a ride. It was a perfect saturday, with an amazing climate and breathtaking views.

You really need to keep those photos coming. Yes, I am singing the songs right along with your pictures. ....when my baby calls to me I go to Rio....

I was thinking about moving to Brasil as well. Have you seen any other Vespas there?

There are about 20.000 Vespas in Brazil. Mostly PXs.

The scooter community in Rio is not very active. People tend to ride only on weekends and such. But there is a WhatsApp group where people organizes some meets.

In other cities, such as São Paulo and Curitiba, there are more riders, with regular meets in a more organized fashion.

Replacement parts are not hard to find here, but tuning ones can be expensive due to our customs tariffs.

Where in Brazil are you planning to live?

Wow that's a good amount. My wife is from Salvador but we may go south to Florianópolis

I don't know about Vespas in the northeast, since I've never been to Salvador (shame on me).

Florianópolis is an amazing place to live and there is a Vespa community there There's also some Lambretta fans in the countryside of Santa Catarina, on cities like Blumenau and Joinville.

I'm actually from Rio Grande do Sul, the state south of Santa Catarina and there are good mechanics there that go to Florianópolis to service some Vespas.
