Are all parts of the BV 400 made in Italy? Especially the engine and drive train.

The parts are made in many different countries. Same if you bought a BMW.

Do you care if some parts come from India or Vietnam or Indonesia (piaggio has manufacturing in all of these)?

Or is it only Chinese metals that you have a problem with?

Seeing these on AliExpress does make me wonder if they've come from a Chinese factory that makes them for Piaggio ...

You gotta feel bad for that star. It spent a few billion years tirelessly squeezing protons and neutrons together to form successively larger atoms, each one releasing energy into the galaxy and beyond. When it gets to making iron though it finds that it can't fuse anything heavier. Heat production ceases, and that thermal energy that was balancing gravitational attraction loses the battle. It's very common to have components made in China used in final assembly in another country.

My 2010 Piaggio Fly was made in China. I only has 2 issues with the scoot in nearly 25K miles of riding. The stator went bad after some dirt got into it while I was doing some dirt riding. I had a hard starting issue that was fixed by disconnecting the evap canister from the carb.

I've seen examples of good and poor quality metal castings from China where the casting was cut to inspect them. It can vary quite a bit. I've also seen shoddy electrical wire from India and China where there are only 2 or 3 strands inside the insulation (look inside the headset of a Stella).

You can get good to high quality goods from China. It's up to Piaggio to establish the quality controls and enforce them. I think they do a decent job of that.

Hmm ... now I'm wondering if I'll be able to spot any flaws and get the parts replaced before assembly and explosion. (And not have to argue about return shipping to the other side of the planet)
