Im new the forum and am thinking about purchasing a 2005 GT 200L. It has 211 original miles on it. It has been in a climate controlled storge unit for the last eight years. The fuel was drained before going into storge. It has a clean title and looks brand new.
I can get it for $1200. I know it needs a new battery and i will change out all the fule lines.
Is that a decent value on a mint green 2005 GT 200?
Thank you

It's pretty darn cheap. Be prepared to also replace the tires and all the fluids.

Wow! What a find, what a price! See if they will take $1,000. Some say it's the best Vespa ever made. Let Bill chime in with his views. Comfy, smooth and fast. Will fit through a 36" man door on your garage. If one day it won't start, you have a fighting chance of figuring it out. No fuel injection black magic, just tried and true air, fuel, spark. Buy it!

I'd jump on that deal, I've had one for the past 5 years. Being a carburetor, if I let it set too long I have to pull the carb and clean it-good tutorials online. Other than that, general maintenance only.

Great review of problem/replacement items, things to look for, etc now that these scooters 20 years old.

That's one of the best deals I've seen here in a while. How did you find it?

Thank all of you.
Still waiting on my battery and parts to get here. Hopefully by Sunday i will have her on the road.
Im cleaning the carb, flushing all the fluids and changing all the fuel lines.
The right front reflector was missing so i ordered that yesterday. Besides the reflector it looks brand new.

What a find and what a deal! As mentioned above, anything rubber and any fluids will need to be changed out.

Fuel and vacuum lines should be checked carefully and probably replaced. Drive belt should be replaced, but rollers and clutch should be fine. Brake fluid and coolant should be flushed and filled. You should check the radiator hoses as well. I would check the water pump and gasket as well - there could be rust inside that would cause issues.

Tires should be replaced, they are well past their expiration date.

You should also check as much of the electrical system as possible. Anything stored that long might have had a critter or two visit it over the years. Mice love to eat wiring insulation.

Finally - That helmet looks great, but it's also past its' use by date. At this point, it's only function should be decorative.

I agree with others that the GT200 is a great scoot, very under appreciated only because it's not fuel injected (which will likely be a long term advantage as these scoots age even more). I hope you enjoy the hell out of that scoot!

It was a older couple that bought it in az. They sold their business to retire and moved to tx. They are friends of a friend of mine. They just wanted to clean their storage locker out. I was just in the right place at the right time. I wasn't even looking at scooters but i just couldn't pass it up.
