Hello - I just had my 12,000 service done and I am getting my pulley system replaced as well as everything else- I was told they had to order the parts and it may be a week or so before they arrive. Is it ODD that a VESPA dealership wouldn't have these parts??

Pulley system — as in variator and clutch pulley? Why are they being replaced at only 12k miles?

I could see how a dealer might keep these items in stock but equally understand how they wouldn't, as they're not regular maintenance items.

Or four.

"...he said it comes in a box with 27 items"???

I didn't think that were that many parts in the entire belt drive system down there?

Hmmm.

How much is he charging for these unnamed 27(!) parts?

if it was only the dump/idler pulley then not surprised that not in stock and it's cheap. if the whole system then expensive and having some of the parts in stock - sure - but I'd also be worried about your guy

We're only limited by our ability to shelter our machines in a slightly oversized two-car garage which can potentially squeeze in five bikes along with Trixie's car and our Miata roadster.

I'll likely add a bike of some kind next spring and fill out our maximum bike quota for our available space.

I presently have no plans to trade-in or sell any of our current bikes.

He is a respected local shop owner - gets good reviews and I have used him before. The total extra to my bill is $97 I am just mad that I have to wait. -

Well that ain't the pulley system.

The variator (which is half of one of the pulleys) would be about that price when bought bundled with the rollers and plate etc. Eg https://www.scooterwest.com/original-variator-for-vespa-gtshpe-hpe2-cm294702.html

12,000 miles does seem early for the variator to be replaced whereas the rollers + sliders which are part of that would need replacing (every 6000 miles) and they typically should have been in stock (and cheaper than the whole variator). The rollers/sliders will rattle when worn - could be the sound

Still not 27 parts through 🤷‍♂️
