Recently purchased a beautiful 2006 Piaggio BV 250 in great condition. However, when I went to load the bike unto the trailer to take it home had a drop and rear view side mirror broke off. I cannot just screw in a new mirror as it broke off below the point where you would just screw in a new mirror. Does anyone know how to replace at the handlebar? I did find a posting on here, on how to remove the front plastics below the gauges to get to them. Thank you for any help you can provide.

You'll need to get a screw extractor. It's a fairly common problem that screw and bolt heads snap off. One detail that might make this situation a huge headache...which side mirror did you break off? I believe the left side is reverse threaded, which means you might just have to drill it out completely and retap the hole.

Here's a video on how one works...

This is something most common wrenchers can do if you're decent with hand tools. I would encourage you to get a good extractor set; the bits need to be of high quality, hardened material to work well.

Good luck

None of the bikes were left hand thread left hand mirrors until about 2012 or so, and then it started to randomly happen with various models. Yamaha did it since the beginning with the right mirror, but most of the companies have never done it. I'm not sure what was the logic behind Piaggio switching.
