Hey guys.

I have just purchased a 2 stroke LML 125.

Bike is bog standard and will be used daily for a short commute of around 15 mins each way. I would like to make it a bit quicker for a fun commute, but still reliable enough to use daily.

What mods would people recommend? Engine kits, exhaust ect. Enough power for Power wheelies would be KILLER... But main thing I'm after is reliability.

And before I get all of the fully justified " just sell it and buy a PX 200" comments 🤣 I picked this LML up on a 2010 plate with 3500km's on the clock for only £600!!! ( Mate of a mate clearing his garage ) So was too good a deal to pass up.

Thanks in advance

It depends how far you want to take it. You could also put a stock 150 top end on it or go with a 177 kit. A long stroke crank would bring the displacement up to 187. A kitted small block can outperform a stock 200.

Hey Orwell84. Cheers for the reply bud.

Havn't really thought too deeply about it to be honest. I guess I don't really need top end speed, not after mind blowing speeds... 60 mph would be ideal, anything above would be a bonus!

But definitely want some good acceleration, and the ability to roll her onto one wheel every now and then lol. All whilst having a bike I can use daily to commute.

Not sure if what I'm asking for is impossible, this is my 1st classic "vespa" and havn't tuned any bikes before.

Others will be along who have much more knowledge and experience. They will be happy to give you more specific information about your options.

60 mph is a reasonable and reachable goal for a small block engine. A lot has changed in the last 10-15 years in terms of what is available for these engines. The conventional wisdom is no longer just get a 200. It's not really necessary to get to the performance levels you are looking for.

I will say that a stock 200 engine will also get you to an honest 60 mph in stock form with by the book setting up. It would bolt right into your Stella frame with no modifications.

Start with this - you gotta do it even if you change the cylinder....

I agree. Try the cheap and easy and see how you like it.

Orwell84 why would you tease me with a bolt in bigger engine 🤦🤣

Thank you guys for the sound advice... I think another exhaust and jetting will be the starting point. I can then look at other options if necessary.

Additionally https://www.megadella.it/en/prodotto/megadella-slx-8-coni-x-177-cc-and-beyond/ (with thanks to Ginch)

Shipping from Italy to UK will be reasonable. VAT depending on how he processes billing.
