I'm going to order a GTS Super 300, in Spain it comes with a standard 3 year warranty. I can buy an extra year for 204€, this will then take me to a 4 year warranty. This will add around 3% to the total cost, worth paying the extra?

1. don't order a 300. order a 310 which comes out oct/nov.
2. usually with extended warranties the extended period covers a lot less potential issues than then main period. read the find print carefully. 3. is the extended period by the dealer or by piaggio? if it's not by piaggio then what happens if you want to use a different dealer for support during that extended period? ask them. |

Thanks SteelBytes. Warranty will be Piaggio as I'm going by their website rather than dealer info but good tip to check the small print. They say it can be bought up to the day before it becomes 3 years old.
Anyway, about the 310cc - I've heard rumours but not seen anything official. For what I need I'm not sure the difference in power will be a deal breaker however someone said they thought the next version will have a deeper underseat storage - a positive for me. But all will have the full digital dashboard - a negative for me! Oh and the 500€ discount ends this month (convenient!). Anyone heard anything official about the above? I realise I'm now going off topic on my own post! |

If you can buy the extended 1yr warranty one day before the original 3yrs it up for the same cost....why not wait until then.

Thanks Che-Storto. I guess the price will increase with inflation but I was thinking similar, maybe I'll wait until I've had the bike for a while - will give me time to check the small print! Cheers.

I'm contemplating this at the moment in the UK. We get 2 years as standard but the 2 year extension to take it up to 4 is around the same price as you're being quoted for a single year…
For me, paying 200 for 2 extra years is justifiable, but I'm not sure I would pay it for a single year… Also, each warranty claim is viewed and approved based on vehicle age and mileage. A Vespa approaching 4 years old will be more difficult for your dealer to get a successful warranty claim. Piaggio tend to factor in a bit of wear and tear. If a bearing breaks at 1 month old, it's an easy warranty claim for the dealer. If it occurs at 3.5 years, Piaggio will put up an objection and there's a chance they'll refuse to cover it. The extended warranty process is ultimately there to make additional money for Piaggio.

Always found that extended warranties mostly cover engine failure, and scoot must be serviced on time at the dealer otherwise they like to say you voided it, also check the mileage they cover.
