Hello All,

Working on a 2008 LX150 with 388 miles. Been sitting for a few years.

Removed the float bowl, jets and carb are super clean. Jets are not blocked.

I noticed the fuel pump is not pulling any fuel from the tank.

The pump runs when you turn it on for about 5 to 10 seconds.

There is a little gas in the line with air between the tank and the pump.

The tank has about 2 inches of fuel.

I disconnected the fuel line going to the carb, and it was dry.

Seems strange with so few miles a fuel pump would go bad.

Thoughts?

Not so many miles, but a lot of time passing. Bad gas could have gummed up the pump. Maybe that's why the carb is so clean -- no gas getting past the pump.

There is probably a strainer in the fuel pump that may be clogged with gas that has coagulated. Probably need to drop tank, pull pump, thorough cleaning of pump and strainer. Also clean tank while out. Fuel level sender may be compromised also

Disconnected fuel line from tank. Gas looks and smells fine. No blockage there.

What does this red thing do? Some type of fuel valve?

You have a 14 year old scooter that has spent a great deal of it's life sitting still. Regardless of the miles the fuel and vacuum lines should be replaced. Sitting still for all those years with any type of liquid in it is not good for the electric fuel pump. If there was ethanol in the fuel, water has separated long ago. If it was mine, I'd drain and flush the tank and replace all of the fuel system components. I'd watch Mitch's video on removing the EVAP system, and block off the SAS as well. Trying to solve your issue one check valve at a time is a recipe for brain damage.
