Modern Vespa

Hello everyone. Well, i'm making progress on my 180ss. I was wondering if any of you have any tips on how to properly get the kickstart gear into place before you close the cases? i read it rests on the metal tab?

also...anyone have a pic of the inside of the 180 engine, before closing up?
i just want to make sure i have all the parts in place and not missing anything. hahah

oh ya... in closing up the engine, what should be the torque-down specs for all the bolts when tightening? is it all the same, even for cylinder?

quoting myself from page 22 of my 25 page SS rebuiild (bc it's 20+ pages of nonsense):

"Closing SS cases is an interesting affair. The KS cog will not clear the main case if left on the fly side as normal. If you leave it on the primary, you cant close the cases either.
You have to leave the cog propped (preciously) on the flyside over the spring leafs. Partially close the case, and then get a dowl or long thin screw driver and push it onto the spindle. Pretty good PITA."


Case bolts - 10ft pounds
Clutch cover blts - 5 ft pounds
Cylinder head - 15 ft pounds
all +/- 1 ft pound
The important part is that the they are all generally equal torque for the part specified.

This is a P List of torque values. Land somewhere between the 200 and the 150 values in the event they have different settings listed:
