Okay, so can you peeps tell me the best method to attached the wires to brake light switch terminals... I'm sure I've tried soldering and it didn't want to attach, just crimping it eventually rattles loose... what's the best method/correct way?

I tinned the tips of the wires heavily then crimped the tabs down as hard as humanly possible.

And you can tin solder the crimped tabs on top of that for even better effect

I tinned both the wires and the tabs, the tabs needed flux and several attempts for the solder to adhere. Crimped then soldered, wire came out while solder was liquid, sorted that out then got it right. It was fiddly, seemed a harder job than it should have been.

Page 6, scroll down 3/4 of the way down the page to see what i did. I followed Charliman22's lead on what he did. Neither of us could get the solder to adhere to the crappy metal terminals in the switch. The only option was to fab new terminals out of copper. It takes some time, but it's easier than it sounds.

It's a fiddly little switch, no question.

TIP: Once the little "flag" terminals are in place and you're sure the switch operates, put a blob of clear epoxy over the wires to hold them in place while you install it.

Okay, so I've replaced the switch a few times on this particular scooter.. I thought I'll just buy all the "shutter" type switches and see which one will actually work the best. This one seems to be the winner. Follow along...

This particular switch has just the two contacts on either side which seems less trouble as opposed to the Pascoli version which has the wrap around piece down the bottom and relies on the two contact on the one side... I like this better.

If you lever open the contact and sand it to get the coating off/rough it up, you can get a good solder on there!!

Ahh, that's the stuff
