Just received a new old stock CM273325 top case for my 2018 GTS and the lock mechanism attached to the lid side arrived busted. As you can see in the pics, the plastic piece holding the metal pin is screwed in place and so I am hoping I can find a part number for it and replace it. Anyone have an idea how to find the #? I have looked but had no luck so far.

I can probably return the case for a refund but it is an old color (no longer available) and I would really like to keep it. And the eBay vendor only had one left.

A couple dealers responded by stating that these pieces are not sold separately. Besides the classifieds section on this forum, any suggestions on where I might look for a used case I could salvage the part from?

Doubtful you'll find a second hand.

Best bet is probably too construct a replacement from stuff lying around. Toothbrush handle, Meccano, etc. A Dremel is handy for this

I have a feeling you are correct. My engineering brain is working on something. I'll post pics if it works.

Another possibility if the piece is ABS which much Vespa plastic seems to be is ABS pipe cement. Not your typical adhesive repair, solvent welds the pieces together.

Me thinks if abs the plastic model etc cement does the trick. Or: use just acetone, it should melt and weld asb. Better still to have that plastic a bit melted to acetone and use that cement-mix.

Here is what I ended up doing. Luckily I have different woodworking tools available to me and so this (plywood) 'wedge' took about 15min to make.

My plastic 'latch piece' had broken apart into 5 pieces but I was able to puzzle it back together using superglue. However, I didn't trust the glue to survive the screws going back in place and so I figured out the wedge you see below. It supports the entire back side of the latch piece and I actually think it will allow it to hold together. I have also painted it black since taking the pics and it now 'disappears' nicely.

Thanks again to member oopsclunkthud for reposting his STL: Looking for GTS top case part (Post 2703249) . I had already completed my fix by the time I saw it.
