Hello - I had my 12,000 service done. There was still a rattle after the service was done.....originally they thought something was wrong with pully system, however, it wasn't.....they said the exhaust was shot. They ordered a new exhausts system from Aprilla in Italy.......I have been waiting two weeks. I call daily and they just say they are still waiting. Is there anything I can do to speed this up. I am bummed!

Why not ride it in the meantime? I mean, how much more damage could you do to a muffler with busted guts?

You could ignore the claimed* problem. You could buy a second hand part. You could import the part yourself from Europe eg SIP.

Hard to imagine the exhaust being shot at 12k miles. Had you noticed any issues or loud noises before the service? Not sure I would trust this shop.

Is that still the same dealership on Park Ave under the BQE? If so, there are other places in the city to take a Vespa to.
I dealt with them a couple of times and was told things like I would need a 1,000 mile service! |

I was looking for a replacement for the right side plastic 'skirt' that wraps around the lower rear body of the GTS300, and was told that there were none currently available in my color anywhere in the US, and that it might take 6-9 months to get one here from Italy.
I guess that I should order it and get something started in this direction anyway. I don't have any plans to get rid of the Vespa in the foreseeable future. Sigh! 🙄 |

The reason why I didnt goto the place in Brooklyn is because of the rattle I was hearing I was worried about the ride........two bridges etc......so I just went to the place that was closer to me.......now I know.....Do you goto Bottega? Yes, I have been to Scooter Bottega for various things and I really recommend them. I usually do my own maintenance when time permits, so I understand what's involved and I think I have a fairly good judgment when it comes to that. Last time I went there for the annual inspection and Robbie, the owner, talked me out of changing my front tire at the same time, as his assessment was that it had more life left then what I thought. Talk about being honest! Regarding that rattle: I agree with the others and wouldn't worry too much and just ride while you wait for your part. I hope that your part will arrive soon. |

My bike needed a gasket that caused a little oil drip. Since it rarely fails, Scooterwest didn't have them in stock. It had to be shipped from Italy and they didn't have them and also we were coming up on the Italian summer vacation and if I didn't get the part before then, I was looking at another six weeks. Oil level didn't go down, so I just kept riding it.
The bike also needed its full service, so we decided not to do the service until the part arrived. Fortunately I got the call it came in before the factory went on vacay. I've got another bike to ride (Monkey), but I was glad I didn't have to spend most of the summer Vespaless. I actually started looking and test riding older 300s, as a backup. I think I am addicted to Vespas! Maybe will get a second GTS when the 310's come out. They will probably need a fresh belt with each tank of gas |
