There is a 2013 LML Star 200 (4T) for sale here locally. First owner and 3k kms only. It is absolutely pristine.

There are several about for sale ´here´ and all pristine with very few kms. Makes me frown. But then there are also 40 year old Vespas with few kms for sale.

It is a carbon copy of my P200E but with a 4T engine. Can not find any specs. on the web. Could very well be no step up save for the disc brake up front.
But then it could also be the near ideal marriage between vintage Vespa chassis and reliable modern 4T tech.

What is the experience/verdict with/on these?

They were a great idea from the LML factory to extend the life of shifting metal bodied scooters. But sadly they were developed during the waning days of LML, bouncing between bankruptcy and solvency.
Quality suffered and now parts are virtually nonexistent, SIP has some but not all.
I would never buy one for these reasons but it stands and a cool piece of history in a way.

Thanks @Steely Dan.

The historic aspect drew my attention.

Meanwhile found a user manual on line:

FYI, SIP will be reproducing parts for the 4T LML engines. They acquired all the necessary tooling in India and found a factory to begin production…

I can imagine SIP going that way as there are quite a few running about esp. in Germany and Italy. There are even tuning bits offered ranging from exhausts to larger cylinders by the usual suspects so go figure.

Will try go see the scoot next week. ´Too much´ going on this weekend. Between brackets because it is even more fun than go see a scoot for sale

Also a good thing to do the homework.

well, the italians are sure busy with the thing.
Found a very easy filter cover mod (for free) and Megadella makes a better flowing muffler with OEM look (not so much for free).

Not ádding power like on a 2T but just de-throttling makes it all a lot healthier.

there is this ´but it is not a Véspa´ thing. I have read comparisons with it being the Tata of Vespa but that is not a bád comparison is it if you think two minutes about it Clap emoticon

Point is nor were MotoVespa in a way and Piaggio/LML had equal equity participation untill ´99.
The Star/Stella is to all extends a PX.

Seems that the key issue is QC and spares situation. The latter potentially a future non issue. Trick aspect being ´potentially´ and ´future´.

As observed, will be having a look. Meanwhile learned that the seller is a workshop who is acting on behalf of the owner. All professional.
We are entering autumn here so perfect buyers market season
