Modern Vespa

Signed up for the Scooter Cannonball and picked up a couple of scooters for my son and I to ride.

My son's going to ride a 2022 Suzuki Burgman 200.

I think I'm going to ride this 2018 GTV. Picked it up a couple of days ago. Only 180 miles on it at that time. Now it has about 450 while I try go run some fresh fuel through it.

Won't be competitive with the 300 handicap wise but I would just like to finish without incident if possible.

I've been a motorcycle rider previously but this is my first Vespa.

Need to go through it as far as fluids, filters and other things and have parts on order.

Welcome to MV. Cannonball is a pretty bold dive into the Vespa world, but hey, it's not for the timid.

Going to be an exciting year! Seems like a great father-son venture.

Welcome and I'm envious of your plan; I'd love to do a cannonball but I just can't put together the time and money. Yet.

From what I know of long-distance riding, I'd recommend heading out on a pretty serious "Minié ball" of your own design first to be sure you've got everything squared away. And be sure to post here about it for all the armchair cannonballers like me.

Thanks for the support, I've been riding quite a bit lately with some pretty long days to try to work myself into riding shape(300 miles with stops in between for gas and food).

The seats better than I thought it would be but can definitely feel that it seems to loosen up or breakdown and I start sinking into it. I think having a comfortable butt is probably the biggest hurdle for me. May look into a Supersport seat or bite the bullet on a corbin.

The nice thing about a GTV is you can fit and load up a front rack without worrying about blocking the headlight!
