I'm thinking of picking up one of the repop BBQ racks next time I'm in the US. Only thing I'm not sure of is if my Belgian number plate will fit between the lower support arms. Could someone who has the Prima rack please measure it for me?
Thanks!

The EU plates are huge. Not just in hight (16 cm) but the width (22 cm) sticks out considerably.
What´s more, the law enforcement is anal about any bending/modding.
The reason being that the homologated plate is legal evidence, making a photo is proof. A photo of a non homologated plate is solid legal reason to have the fine chucked out.
Hence the original vintage plates are highly coveted for old bikes.

Looks to be about 8". Or 203.2mm. Or 0.000109719 nautical miles. However you decide to measure it.

Thanks Godber! Belgian plates are 210mm wide by 140mm high, so with a bit of fettling I reckon I'll get it to fit.

Quick question about these. Did they make a version with no backrest or with other options besides a backrest?

My 200 came without one. I was thinking of making an adjustable rack to use in place of the backrest.

Has the top mounting plate bent correctly and the lower bracket avoids the issue with the plate width,

I don't know if this will help, but the back rest is adjustable / removable. It has lock screws in the bottom, but considering I had to install it with a dead blow hammer, I didn't feel the need to use them.

Thanks, but it's specifically the US BBQ rack I'm asking about. In case anyone's interested in the Volvo rack you linked to, I had one years ago and found the backrest was too far back to be of use.

Beware, though. The USA one I ordered came with a seat post mount plate that had a weird angle to it that wouldn't allow my seat to close properly. I have a whole tirade about it someplace.

Good point, I saw that thread. I'll send them a message to see if it's been addressed.

I've finally received my rack and smuggled it into the EU tariff-free Mine is exactly the same - the only way the back rest will slide into the rack is with some not-so-gentle persuasion of the rubber mallet variety. I won't be able to fit it to the scooter for a month or so. Fingers crossed that the backrest is already in the right position as I don't think that adjusting it in-situ is going to work.
