Hi guys, sorry my first post is about a problem, but it is what it is. Anyway i follow this forum for quite a while, maybe a month or two, i just bought myself a used GTS300 (my first Vespa) 2014 y, with 12650 miles on it(21000 km) . I liked it, i know that it has a lot of miles, but i liked it 😂. The previous owner said that it has been serviced on time but who knows! I plan to do a full service next season March/April.

So, i have a little or big problem with my Piaggio, it make a rattle sound from the cvt box when decelerating right before i stop, or even on centerstand when its reved up. I will post my youtube link here, couse i don't know still if i can attaCh video, and i will be more than happy if anyone can help me, what seems to be the problem, should i be concerned? . BTW the Vespa runs great 🤞. This is the video of the Vespa problem.

Probably belt needs changing and weights as you never know how long ago they where changed, better to do service now than get a belt to snap riding.

Might be the clutch

(Peter's comment below is more likely)

I hope this is the problem, i will open it this week, and see if it's belt wear or rollers/weights.

Now this is another fear of mine, how would i know... Even if i go to a mechanic for the clutch, is there some indicators if its a bad clutch?

Thank you both for the responses

Your Vespa did 21.000km. That is not a lot of mileage. Quite the contrary: it is an almost new engine.
It is a 2014, so 10 years old, so not much used.

The sound you hear is most probably the belt that is hitting the housing when decelerating. It is not your clutch.

What causes the noise is probably caused by the rear pulleys that do not slide easiliy due to lack of lubrication.

I think giving the transmission a service even without replacing any parts, like belt or rollers, if they are still in good condition, will solve the problem.

I had a similar problem on my BV 300 from 2012 that I bought in 2019 with only 9.000km on the counter.

Can't 👍 this enough, still a lurker here 🙂. Thank you Peter for the advice, i will do that. BTW the Vespa is in a very clean state for being 10 years old, that's why i was wondering the noise. I will post as soon as i find the problem, first with your advice, in case someone else have similar issue.

I'm with Peter too. It's notable, but not ominous. If you can open it up and have a look, it's worth it, if you can't I wouldn't panic.
