The manual states 1,000cc for the 2008 LX150.

After changing the oil and filter for the first time, The oil is in the middle of the hash marks

Just curious. is that correct?

On my honda elites, I typically like the oil at the top of the hash marks.

I welcome any comments.

Have you run the engine for a moment to pump oil into the new filter? I would do that and then check the oil level.

Actually, I pre-measure the new oil before I put it in. It comes to the top of the hash marks on my Primavera 150. It might be different for an LX, but I wouldn't worry as long as it's within the marks. Check it again after a few hundred miles.

Don't over fill!

I ran the engine for a few minutes, rode for about a mile.

Then let engine sit for about 10 minutes before checking.

When checking, I screw the dipstick all the way in.

Shows half way within the hash mark.

Double check the information in the manual. I only have the 2009 version to hand, which states 1100 ml as the filling quantity.

Here is something interesting.

The owners manual (Vespa LX125 150 Euro 3) says 1,100cc, but the shop manual (LX150 4T USA) states 1,000cc

It certainly won't hurt to bring the oil up to the full mark now that you have run it and let it cool down. Just put a wee bit in at a time and don't over fill.

Being European, this could have been changed in the shop manual simply because oil tends to be sold in 1 litre quantities and it simples the process.

Sitting oil on the max helps oil / engine longevity and temperature stability.

However a lower oil level (while still above the minimum) will mean a theoretical better fuel economy and emissions. Not sure if it's a discernible amount though.

Apart from the fact that the operating instructions and workshop manual should be identical in essential points:

No! Both talk about filling quantities. Authorized workshops in particular (and it is precisely for these workshops that the workshop manual is written) obtain engine oil for inspection work in barrels and not in 1-litre cans.

Engine and filter, took 36oz top of hash mark. This is 1oz shy of 1,100 cc
