Is there an existing thread for stuff people have done to their Vespa's? I'm talking about minor mods, accessories added on, etc.
Nothing too heavy or detailed.

For example.....Today I installed a tinted mini fly-screen.
It was brisk this am (14*C) and my eyes did not water like usual. The wind noise was still up around my ears but it's to be expected because I wear a Crazy Al's half ("beanie")helmet.
With the cooler weather approaching I'll be wearing ear plugs and/or going with the full-face.....

I should have added that I took a chance and ordered it from AliExpress and received it in 7 days!
Looks like OEM and I saved over $200CDN from what the Local Motorcycle shops are asking.
The only negative is there were no instructions. Luckily I have the med-sized windshield that came with the s150(that I refuse to use) to mimic the assembly....

I spent 10.5 hours elbow deep in my Vespa. (18,000 mile service) There was so much yuck...

Tomorrow, I get to see if it worked, or if I killed everything...

Today I replaced the 15yo OEM rubber grips with a new pair.
They feel a little bit girthier( ) and the "stainless caps" are nicely machined....

It wasn't Today but I installed the pigtail for the Battery Tender. Managed to find a perfect spot under the Top Rack held by a zip-tie.
It's pretty much hidden....unlike my Buddy's that's hanging out of the battery cover by his feet. Don't know why the Dealership did that but it looks like an umbilical cord on his 300GTS:roll:

My Buddy painted and clear coated his grey Belt/Drive cover to matte black (forgot to take a pic)
Also, the chrome muffler cover was replaced. AliExpress comes thru again with a quality accessory at a fraction of the cost and delivered quickly (1 week)

I am still combing through my new (used) scooter tuning her up little by little. My spark plug arrived in the mail today. I did a valve adjustment and swapped in the new plug. Waiting on more parts in the mail to change the oil.

I growled at my 2005 GT200 as I walked past due to a bad starter motor this morning and climbed in my 1983 Chevrolet Caprice classic and went to work smiling thinking of how satisfying it would be to ride as soon as I fix it
That's what I did to my Vespa today !

Yesterday I swapped out my front brake pads and flushed the brake fluid. Very dirty! I put in some Motul RBF600 that I already had opened and upgraded the pads to some Malossi gold sintered pads. Turns out the old pads weren't all that worn, but this is my initial refreshing, so in they went- I can save the old ones for spares. These new pads bite HARD! They seem like they're three times more effective than the stockers! New fluid could also have something to do with it.

I also installed some replacement parts (right lever, right floorboard spoiler, left mirror) as I'm trying to make this scooter whole again.

Today I'm changing out gear and motor oils and swapping in new brake shoes. I love it how the oil pees down the center stand. It wouldn't be an oil change without an Exxon Valdez incident!
Look how dirty this is!!

This is what was stopping me!

Decided to install a brake light modulator on the scooter today. I had a couple of BackOff units laying around the garage, so I thought it might be nice to get some use out of it. Pretty forward and easy job. Took about a whole 30 minutes to do it. I feel safer already.

2Scooter....can you list the modulator part#? I'd be interested in installing something similar. Can't ever be too safe.....

This is the unit that I installed.

I believe it is the brake modulator that started it all. I'm sure you can find it somewhere for a decent price. I bought it originally in 2001 for my SV650. From then, it's been passed onto a few other vehicles. Super-reliable and works well. It's function is simple and straight-forward- no programming involved. Only two wires, not four like the newer ones. It simply splices into your brake light wire with the red wire towards the handlebar.

It's my Vespa's fifth birthday so I did:

Valve check and adjust
New air filter
Adaptive params reset
Clean throttle body
Adjust throttle cables

Probably should also give her a wash

My GTS was making a clunk-clunk noise when I went over bumps.

First thought it was the lid of the top-box, so I modified the lock to reduce the play there, but that didn't fix it. Then I discovered that the play was in the hook that connects the box to the carrier at the back, so I wrapped a piece of rubber hose around the carrier where the hook engages, and problem is now solved.

My GTS 300 had been getting noisier and noisier. It was a slow gradual build up and seemed like it was losing some power too. So today I removed the exhaust and changed that stupid exhaust gasket. Problem solved. Now I can hear the variator rollers rattle again…….

I just bought the scooter a couple of weeks ago, so I have no idea of what services have been done in its history. Just doing my due process now. The brake pads all had some life left on them, so I would guess those got swapped out at some point. No idea about fluid.

I just did the variator roller and belt service yesterday. Everything was within tolerances. So somebody did take care of her.

Today I spent 2 hours knocking the rust off of these passenger pegs. They shined up nicely. Need to find rubber replacements.

I did all the work on my 2012 GTS (except for the valve adjustments). It was good to learn how to maintain it.

When I got the 23, I brought it to the shop for the 600 mile service. Hey, new bike, more software stuff, figured I would do the future services.

At 4600 or so miles, it had a drive ability issue that I wanted fixed so as long as the bike was there, I asked to have the 6k mile tuneup done. Then, it was in the shop for a rubber seal under warranty, so I had them do the 12k service since the bike was at 9.5k . Which put the interval since the last service @ 5k miles. A little short, mileage wise, but the bike was there and apart.

I am at 12.5 k, and the hub oil and spark plug needed to be changed so that's the first time I "got under the hood" with the new bike. It's fun to wrench. I think from here on I'll do as much of the work as I did with the 12.

The timing of what is needed when is all over the chart due to doing the services early, but it was worth it to have Robot and crew help the bike with its teething pains.

I'm just guessing but would a pair of bicycle grips work?
I'm wondering if the foot rack is available for my s150. The wife would enjoy them.....

Yes, regular handlebar grips would work, but the bar diameter is really small. 18mm small, so it's going to need childrens bike grips- way smaller selection for styles and patterns. I did a "fit" test and put my wife on the scooter. She liked the position, but she has a pretty long inseam, so she felt that she would probably be fine with the stock position too. I opted to remove the accessory pegs to clean up the appearance of the scooter. I'm considering getting some rear bumper guards and having the passenger pegs would clutter up the looks of it in my opinion.

I finally got my replacement expander sleeve part from ScooterWest. I ordered a Faco expander from Scooterpartsco, but it had a different thread pitch, so I had to abandon those efforts. Last night, I spent some time polishing the deep scratches out of the windscreen with some wet sandpaper and the Novus products. Turned out pretty amazing! I got it mounted up on the scooter this morning and I am pretty darned pleased! It was certainly worth my 2 hours of effort!
