Ya gotta love a real good hardware store. We have one a few miles away. They have all kinds of things in there. I just like to look around sometimes.

The guys in the hardware store always ask if I need help finding something my reply to them is no I'm just fine wandering about absorbing everything checking things out and learning new stuff I'm never in a hurry to get out of there I do find that I leave with extra stuff that I need for other projects and usually meet other interesting people doing the same thing .

I've put on some bling on my GTS. From SIP: Engine oil dipstick, brake levers and a small Pordoi flyscreen. From AliExpress: Final drive oil dipstick and a CNC aluminum fork cover...

So I've taken the opportunity of my '24 GTV being out of commission while waiting for a new reduction cover from Europe to take her apart and do some automotive wrapping! I like the all black GTV, but I honestly wanted a lighter color, just no one has them.. So I kind went crazy and thought I would try checkerboard, and I actually love it!
Still in progress shots...
Parts.... everywhere...
Front leg shield done! Gonna do the side skirts next!

I changed the brake fluid; that's something I keep forgetting: I've been using the same fluid for several years... Not good...
I was expecting to see a black fluid, at least dark brown, but it wasn't: just a little dark. This was my first time doing this interview myself, and it turned out to be easy to do. |

I deleted that pesky side stand switch and it only cost me $0.05 and 20 minutes. I simply cut the wires to the switch and used this connecter to sire them together.

Finally finished and got her back together. This all started with accidentally tightening the hub oil drain bolt and stripping it out during my 625 mile first service (did myself). Ending up ordering a new reduction hub cover from oem bike parts .com and during the 3 weeks it took to get to me, I decided to do some automotive wrapping. I did the checkerboard on the front leg shield, side skirts and all white on the glove box. I'll take more pics once I actually wash it and she's presentable. Very much a learning experience!

I never washed mine until it could stand by itself. Because I was afraid it would sprout legs and walk off.

took it for a quick spin around the neighborhood till it was up to temp, then pulled it back in the garage, opened the seat and removed the pet carrier.

PS, iirc that thread that you are alluding to was about "After a long ride" not "a quick spin". But I'm guessing in your thesaurus these are the same. |

Did a 140km roundtrip to a friend who's a Piaggio dealer to have a second keyfob programmed. PADS required for every module on the GTS be updated before programming the new keyfob. So, we did an ECU remapping, ABS, dash and keyless system update. Programming the keyfobs is a 2 minute job. The ECU remapping definitely did something, engine is more responsive and acceleration is quicker…

Had time today to do the pads on my GTS. Galfer has messed up the part code for the rear, pads need modifications to fit the newer caliper. On the plus side, more contact area since they are bigger. Bad news, I found a few loose bolts, one was on the rear wheel. Thankfully it hadn't come out causing a massacre. I don't know what the hell did the dealer do during the mandatory PDI (if they actually did it)...

bought a decent quality torque wrench. it will be kept wrapped in cotton wool in a temperature controlled environment unlike the one I normally use.
increased the rpm range of the lambda in my gts. an experiment to see how rich/lean it runs at high rpm where the lambda normally doesn't run. washed her. |
