Hey all, I just had the front interior panel repainted (around the glove box hatch) by a local company and the quality didn't quite land. The color is off towards the top half of the panel. Wondering if anyone can suggest a specialist who could refinish correctly? It'd be easy enough to pop the panel off and ship it anywhere. Or is a factory match just not possible.

Painting seems to be also part art. A really good painter is hard to come by. I think I am fussy, but I would probably live with it. Although, photos don't show as well.

Good luck,

Bob Copeland

Are you aware that you can source factory painted parts from Vespa?

Vespa says I have to order through a dealer. And according to a large US dealer I've been working with, they can't find this panel, painted in the factory glossy gray, anywhere in the US. They also said Piaggio is no longer offering painted parts to dealers. But they also said in an earlier email that while it's currently being made, wait times are over a year. So I'm not sure which is true.

Paint code 715C shiny grey? Vespa part number 1B003333000HT.

Your local Dealer should be able to order it. If not, try a vendor like Scooterwest or AF1.

Scooterwest was the unnamed dealer I mentioned in my last post. I'll give AF1 a call and see if they can actually get their hands on it. Thanks for the product link. Scooterwest said it would be at least a year to get one from Piaggio, if they would even produce one for a dealer anymore at all, so they wouldn't even take the order from me. What a headache!

Just got off the phone with Vespa US customer service. They don't see any 715/C painted part (1B003333000HT) for this 2020 Sprint anywhere in the US or Italy, and advised not to order through a dealer yet as I'd pay the money and likely be waiting forever. They said while the part isn't "abolished", meaning it would never be made again, it's not likely that Piaggio will make more in the near future. He told me my best bet was to find an automotive painter to repaint it.

I mean it's a bummer to hear. BUT, other than Vespa, I'd never heard of an auto manufacturer offering painted replacement parts. So it's not surprising that it may not last.

1B003333000HT appears to be available. About $280-300 or so.

That's not correct. Seems like you didn't read the last few posts. A website may say they can order it to their warehouse but Vespa doesn't have any to ship to them. That's the problem. A vendor would just hold my money indefinitely waiting for a part from the manufacturer that's never coming.

From one picture it seems below the handle bars and above the glove box is a creamy gray while everything else is more black gray. Without going too far in the deep end, I'd say they avoided the key and ID plate in the blend. Since they both are costly to mask-remove to make it purrfect. Painter-service writer-customer is twice removed from communicated expectation's from the outset. All but the 0.00001% of painters in this area can perfectly butt match colors, primadonnas carry a high price tag and are always in the highest demand. Usually they are independent in a dark garage with tattoos and alcohol, somebody you probably wouldn't trust to leave your scoot with.
