Modern Vespa

I have a 2009 MP3 500ie with only 1200 miles on the odometer. When I am riding, the whole scooter just dies entirely. This can be dangerous. Of course I pull over. When I go to restart it, it starts right up and may runs for days before it does it again. I can't attribute any particular driving condition or behavior that would give me a clue as to what or why. My very best guess would be a relay that has an intermittent issue, but I don't know which relay to suspect & test. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you in advance. Obie1kenobi.

First thing to check is if the battery terminals are loose…

When you say "die" does the engine sputter first? Can you tell if the exhaust has changed? By entirely, does that mean the lights, etc?

SaFis advice is a good place to start. I'd also check for moisture or condensation that can create intermittent electrical issues.
