I was wondering if anybody has bought a Vespa from Roman scooters i'm interested in a vintage model 1960s wondering if they have a good reputation they are from Asia and I've heard the horror stories. Thanks, Bob.

Find one from one of the forum members here. There are people here that are reputable and have legit scooters from the 60's. I see them in your area once in a while, don't get stuck with just one scooter shop, look around. Have you looked on scootnet2.net?

Avoid anything at all imported from Asia, especially if "restored". All should be ignored. There are tons of fine examples right here in the good ole USA.

This is wise advice.

As far as I've heard the bodge era is over in Vietnam.
Maybe a few left? Idk, but I doubt that very much.
That's a scam website from the looks of it, and that "inventory" is pure terror.

Buying and riding a 60's Vespa is a highly technical subject, made more complicated by the flood of SEA bikes still circulating (like maybe 25%+ of the listings here in CA).

The 60's USA Vespas are unique, in that there are way more here that are true garage finds.
We didn't have the culture where every scoot at all rideable would be ridden into the ground. A lot of scoots here were ridden for a short while and just stored. That would never have happened in Asia, and very rarely in Europe.

This video is painful to watch. Seller didn't know he was riding a deathtrap Facepalm emoticon

Keep checking here @Modern Vespa in Classifieds - the members always jump in when someone advertises a 3rd world restoration .... also maybe check classicvintagevespas.com they vet all scooters they recommend and update weekly. eBay and Hemmings are good too but you must watch out for 3rd world restorations there. Good Luck -J
