I am a new Vespa owner and love my 2002 Vespa Piaggio ET2 50. The gas gauge is broken though. I am taking it to a local repair shop today, but now concerned of what the cost may come out to. Anyone ever get this fixed before and know the range of cost?
And how hard is fueling at the gas station? I know NOT to shove the gas pipe into the fuel tank like you would a car. But does this mean just put the tip of the fuel line in? And how will I know it's full without just overflowing it? Thank you all!

Don't have a direct answer, but many riders say motorcycle and scooter gas gauges are inaccurate.

Many of us just use the trip meter. Learn the range and reset at each fill up.

Not hard to fill, but can be a challenge to not overfill. I watch my distance compared to mpg and listen when it gets close to how much I think it should take as the sound changes when it gets close to the filler neck.

Suggest reading this thread:

There is a lot of info and many answers in the wiki and FAQ sections.

I have repaired the gas gauge on a Vespa ET before, it is probably the fuel level sender, it gets corroded or stuck from disuse. The part itself is $120 new and about half the price used, you also need to drop the gas tank to fit the new part so there is a couple hours of labor involved.

Depending on who you brought it to the price could be exhorbitantly expensive. When it comes to scooters and motorcycles you need to be either handy or wealthy enough to pay people to fix them.
