Just thought I'd show off my build, have owned & worked on this lovely 2004 Gilera DNA 180 since 03/24.
It is 4 stroke, 4 valve watercooled LEADER engine, Euro 2
Spec is ~19bhp @8500rpm, not sure on torque but think its like 16 something NM. Cylinder is Nikasil plated aluminum unlike 125 LEADERs which have cast iron stock so this was a lucky find

Ran like shit when i first got it think it was sat a lot before I purchased it. Wouldnt rev past 6k, had the carb related starting issues etc yada yada.
Old roundslide walbro carb had big jet 120 when it should have been 108!
Also the valve lash was way too tight so i put it back to factory spec
Swapped for Keihin CV carb, they are just better than the old walbro's
38 pilot 110 main currently. 110 better than 108 with this airbox which is same as Vespa GTS airbox and is not stock.
Starts on button from hot and cold, sometimes needs a tiny bit of throttle when its cooled down slightly, think its related to the auto choke (which is quite old now).

Have been through like 4 radiators gambling on the old stragglers that got posted on ebay they are all like 20 yrs old now so stopping leak was a challenge for a while lol. The current one is going strong with a little bit of hard n fast putty on it haha

I've had 85 indicated out of it so far, think it could get more. I fitted a Malossi variator for a bit but the ramps are steep AF so it was overrevving at cruise RPM. Polini hi-speed is much better for this engine as it does actually have torque, smoothest i had too and Ive owned 10 scoots over like 7 years. Somehow it made the pull on clutch engagement smoother also whereas the malossi one was really jerky. Also it doesnt eat rollers for breakfast like the malossi variator.
Currently have 3x10g & 3x13.5g in vari.
The speedo is actually pretty accurate for an Italian, its like 10%

The camera on my phone is rubbish i did all the paint changes, its not completely 110% finished still in that fine tuning stage & will get a final clean n tidy up, polish & touch up etc but the overall bulk of it is done, I added the fork rubbers and check underneath now and then. Might add some more splash 'n spray protection in rear. Also there is future plans with decals/reflectives, paint and lighting/electrical but I always say less is more keep it simple
I had to trim the carb cover back slightly to clear one of the waterpipes which is from a 2010 Xevo 125 currently. I've replaced or restored almost everything mechanically and a lot of electrics too
I had to push it home one time in the summer for like 3 miles due to its OG starter finally succumbing and it started right back up when I swapped out the starter for the one off the Xevo and my top came off halfway i was so hot and dehydrated what a mess that was LMAO

Honestly love this thing so much, the scooter engine with the bike frame is badass and the storage compartment disguised as a fuel tank goes absolutely nuts.
Handling is like a cross between a scooter and a bike, it still has unsprung rear mass like any scoot the front end feel is lighter than a normal bike but not vague like a scooter there's better front tire feedback which especially helps in rain or other reduced grip scenarios. I think this has to do with handlebar position & frame geometry.
I've seen a few people talking shit online about this thing but its as good as any other Piaggio look after it and it will look after you rain or shine.

Sorry for long post, Let me know what you think guys if you think this is cool or if you wanna let me know you think it's way uncool that is fine too

Nice bike. I've always been curious about the size of the helmet storage compartment. Any chance of some more pics? Some with the storage open and a helmet in it?
