Hello
I recently bought a new Vespa 125 GTS and then added a seat height lowering kit..
It is now really difficult to put the Vespa on the centre stand… does anyone else have this problem?

It is logical as you have lowered the scoot so you are lifting more weight, before weight was higher and less to pull up, also be careful if you have a sidestand because angle will be changed and scoot can tip over.

Panerama I'm sorry to hear that you're having problems with that. I had the lowering done on a 2016 150, but I don't recall it changing the center stand handling too much (Low profile seat and/or lowering link? (Post 2641333)).

That said, lowering would technically mean that the center stand contacts the ground a little sooner and you'd initially have a slightly shallower angle. I've always just used my weight and balanced for the center stand, but that's not the only technique: there's also the grab-the-passenger-handle-and-lift-while-stepping technique. You might find a different approach easier?

Thank you for your interest in this matter… The truth is at 74yrs old I'm not as strong as I used to be.. After I'd fitted the lowering kit (lowered by an inch), my feet are flat on the ground at the lights etc..

But… almost impossible to put the scooter onto the centre stand.. I've completely solved the problem and would like to post pictures and a video but I don't know how..🙈😂

If it helps, I don't think you're alone in this. I'm sure people more personally familiar with this will come along, but until then you might want to check out some (albeit older) threads that also have some good conversation, links, and videos:

In my experience in some bikes projects, when I have made modifications that involve lowering the bike, I have had to trim the center stand by calculating how much it lowered to regain the correct angle of movement. It is not easy, because if you cut too much it will not be well balanced and the center stand could retract with a minimal movement.

The same goes for the side stand, which in this case must be very long now and the bike is too "straight" and can cause it to fall over due to balance, but wit the side stand is possible to change the angle of the side stand and doing this compensate the loss of height and correct the angle just by bending it outwards a little.

Do you have a side stand on the scooter? I don't use it all the time, but when I use it, I like it!
