Hello everyone,

I am running into an issue with the famous roll lock system. I found a similar post on this forum but no solution so i hope i can rekindle the discussion and maybe even get the needed help to solve the matter.

When trying to engage te roll lock i get a steady orange and red light on the dash accompanied with a steady beep for 5 seconds. I found the video on youtube explaining beep codes but this scenario is not part of it.

There is a brand new battery installed and even though the video shows 12.5 volt in the beginning, it also happens when it says 13 or even 14 volts with engine started.

I did not check or replace any cables/plugs/relais but i found 2 plugs which i was wondering why they are there and not connected to anything? not sure about the purpose of those plugs and if they should be connected to anything.

See attachments for more details.

Thanks in advance!!

edit: it seems i cannot upload the video so instead i have uploaded on youtube: https://youtube.com/shorts/nzAgsf4KcAk?feature=share

The one in the image IMG_7065.HEIC is the diagnostic port and are connected to the diagnostic tool as you goes to the workshop.

The other looks for me as to connect a accessory as heated grips, or any other system that is purchase separated.

it looks like you have issue with the main motor of the roll look system.

this is a common issue that the motor stack.

only once I had similar situation and the result was the potentiometer of the roolling system

Thanks, do you think it will help to find out the exact error if i use a diagnostic tool?

Maybe, but for the lock system the errors are sometimes useless

Sure,
I will try later (arrive home) to film a video of dismantle MP3 front that will explain how the system locks and running...

Hey man this is absolutely amazing that you could record this video and explain!

I will disassemble and see if the motor is moving, i suspect it does not move because I don't hear anything when i engage the switch.

But i will try and definitely come back to you with the result! Thanks so much once again

if it is the motor, you need to know that in 90% you can dismantle the motor and clean it deep and he will became alive again..

if so I will also recommended to grease the wheel gear in effort to reduce load on motor.

By the way I have a MP3 Yourban 2016, do you think the roll lock system is the same on my model?

All MP3 works same, the only changes between model and years is the part location, for example as result of missing space at urban, the motor is rotated by 180 degree at same place, it is also sane at newer MP3 models that ABS pump moved to front.

but the roll lock system are totally same.

* next week I need to repair Urban, so if you need I can picture it.

Okay thanks for confirming!

I just bought the motor couple of days ago so i will try to remove the covers in the weekend to confirm if the motor is working when i activate the switch. Hopefully it is a simple fix by just replacing 1 sensor…

dismantle the motor is straight forward task without any complex issue, expect frustration of missing space.

however installing back the motor need alignment process, generally this procss done with Piaggio software, however there is an workaround to align without diagnostic tool of piaggio, you will need a "digital" (not analog) voltmeter.

Hi my friend,

I have removed the covers and tried some stuff but I can't see the mechanical motor move like your motor does on your video. So should I try to put directly 12 volt on the cable? And which one exactly should I put the 12v on?

See my video here:

See my video here:

If you do not see motor activation this mean the motor is stack as expected.

let's watch at the back side of the motor, you will find a cable that getting out from the motor, and after 10-14 cm you will see a connector.
dispatch this plug and you can give 12V DC directly to the motor.

(you must validate that you give power to the right side plug, so double check it is the short cable that arrive to the motor)

the motor work with 12V and you can change polarity in effort to change direction.

I have tried to give it power via a jump starter and it does not do anything…

I also tried go reverse the polarity but also then nothing happens. Tried with both the key switched to the right so the dash board lights are on but nothing happens to the roll lock motor.

Am I doing something wrong?
