The Highway Hiker's 46th Annual Toy Run went through Springfield, OH yesterday.
We were headed across town to the library and found major intersections downtown blocked by police & highway patrol cars.
These days, we wondered if Springfield was getting another visit from another kkk, proud boys or neo-nazi group?

No! it was miles and miles of motorcyclists riding through town out to the fairgrounds - for the annual toy run!
The newspaper said that the convoy of 3,000-plus motorcyclists nearly spanned the entire county!
Pretty cool!

O.S.

sadly - my daughter, who works nights at the city hospital, reported that 4 motorcyclists were admitted through the E.R.

Hopefully injuries were not serious. This is the reason I won't ride in random groups. I used to, and have witnessed some of the worst riding practices. People lose their minds in a large group.

Other than the HD, I still have a vintage Japanese 2-stroke road-racer and a little Honda dual sport. In a few years, when we do our retirement relocation, I'll be down to one and it'll be the Vespa.

I am with you on the group riding. It pains me every time I see a person on a large motorcycle duck walking and feet dragging. Both are s good indicators of disinterestedness in proper riding techniques or a lack of low speed skills. Safety wise, I really don't enjoy riding around people like that.

On the other hand looking at the images, I can't help thinking if the wearing of personal safety gear isn't an important factor s well.

It's one thing to ride alone without much protection, but if you find yourself surrounded by bikers with questionable skills, the stakes appear much higher.
