Hello. New here, and to Vespas in general.

I am currently looking at two 2009 GTV 250ie. One has 4k miles, and is in slightly better condition, visually. It also provides more information:

$3,300

Very nice low mileage Vespa. 250cc fuel injection water cooled engine gives it 80mph speed. Recently serviced and runs smoothly. Updated fuel pump, and Michelin tires. New Helmet, riding jacket and receiver type bike tower included.
The second is 2k miles, has a rusted muffler, but states:

$4000

Low mileage, rarely used. New tires, fuel pump, maintenance done at Vespa dealer. Italian leather seats. Rear storage compartment.
I think I want to go with the first one because it seems more well maintained and cheaper, but the 2k mile one comes with a rear rack and a top case for a full helmet. Both are beige and the same model, so I am wondering if I can ask to buy the rear rack and top case from the second one and put it on the first, but I am not sure what an appropriate price would be. I couldn't find where I could buy one myself from another source.

What do you guys think I should do?

Go with your instinct. 2k is nothing on a modern Vespa. They are built to be ridden. Get the GTV.

"Rarely used" is not a particularly good recommendation for a used Vespa. Scooters like to be ridden rather than sitting in the back of a garage. I'd look at both of them and see which was in the better physical condition (paint, chrome, rubber, etc) and see what service records are available indicating which one was serviced most regularly. If you are leaning toward the second one, I would make an offer more like the price of the first one. And top cases can be readily repainted if you are unable to find the correct color.

I have a 2009 GTS250 and my fuel injected, liquid cooled engine does not give it '80mph speed.' A steep down hill and favorable tailwind might get it close.

Do not factor that top end speed into your purchase.

I've seen 80 mph on my GTS300's speedometer.....on a long downhill section of road, and even then, just subtract 7-8 mph of indicated speed to generally factor in the typical Vespa speedo error of around 10%.

2k miles (3k km) or 4k miles (6.4k km) is of no importance as these Quasar engines do well above 100k km.

I think you definitely need a topbox on a Vespa, simply for practical reasons.

A topbox is some 350€ and a rack some 130€ as an option on a new GTS in Europe.

If I'm planning on cruising at 80mph on 2 wheels, a Vespa wouldn't be my first choice......
