Regardless of which side the boom is on, the Situation with the weaker foot on the ground would ALWAYS remain with the problem described...
I may have described it wrong, you have to turn your whole body. Left hand on the handlebars, right hand on the pillion grip, depending on which foot you want to use, you then stand slightly in front of or behind the main stand. When I observe Vespa riders, I would almost say that the ratio of those who do this intuitively is 50:50 right/left foot.

That would be too late... by the time the main stand moves, one hand has already been on the throttle for a time...
