I tried the G vs E carbs, in conjunction with the Oops bell-mouth intake and found the G out performed hands down. Here's the rub, the G carb has only one pilot jet available - as supplied - which is why I had to use the plastic bell-mouth to get right jetting for my set-up, which ends up being a huge limiting factor.
The bell design for the G allows the taller E style jets to be used on the G.
That said the standard G idle and 120 air corrector worked great on my Rally with a 125 Main and T5 filter. I will be swapping for the bell but needed a known good setup that could take me to 7500ft and back.
Indeed the reason for using the "G" bell was ability to use the taller 'standard' dellorto pilot jets which gave me the flexibility for using the T5 carburetor on 150 and 200 engines with various set-ups.
This came up the other day on the Stella owners Faceplant group. There is a UK company that sells short air correctors and idle jets for the 24.24G in various sizes.
I'm glad somebody got something out of my thread. I suck at dialing in jetting so i gave up on the 24G carb install. It was a spare one on my shelf, so back on the shelf it went. I switched back to the ol' 24E carb and i'm more than satisfied with its performance. I had the jetting dialed in on my first try in .001 seconds.
